What better time to duck out of contemporary cinema than Summer '09?
Well, not entirely, but mostly, and there will be a serious reining-in of writing for this site over the coming months. This isn't to say I won't pop up here and there with a review if something really excites me (like, I dunno, say, Treeless Mountain or Food, Inc.). But here's the deal. Over the past two months, I have reestablished my contact with UC Berkeley and my dissertation committee (or, to be exact, a somewhat new configuration of it), and I am once again working to complete my diss and, therefore, my PhD. By the end of the summer, I need to have at least two fully drafted chapters, and a pretty clear plan for the rest of the thing.
So, something had to give. And, if I want to keep to my current goal of still being able to attend TIFF and Views in the fall, I need to work really hard this summer. So fewer movies, and much less web writing. Sorry, sports fans.
All best,
Michael
UPDATE, 7/2/09: TIFF back on. (The first half, anyway.) Cool.
